Most Frequently Asked Buzz Nola Questions

1. General Tour Information

Q: What types of bike tours do you offer?

We offer guided city tours on electric bikes as well as guided city tours on pedal bikes. The tours follow routes which are selected with the idea of sharing with our guests the interesting and fun aspects of New Orleans, with an eye on safety. Each tour showcases the history, neighborhoods, and culture of New Orleans.

Q: How long is the tour?

Plan on your bike tour with us lasting 3 hours.

Q: How difficult is the ride?

Our tours are at a relaxed pace. Tours are family-friendly,  and designed for most fitness levels. All pedal bike tours are on flat ground. The ebike tours may cross a bridge or levee, which is the closest thing we have here to a hill. Don't worry though because the ebike motor makes these simple even if you haven't been on a bike in ages.

3. Safety & Accessibility

Q: Are helmets required?

Helmets are provided and required for all on our ebike tours. Adults may opt out of wearing a helmet on the pedal bike tours.

Q: Is the tour safe for kids?

Riders must be 16 or older to participate in our normal tours. Children younger than 16 may be accommodated on private or VIP tours.

Q: Is the tour accessible for people with disabilities?

We will do our best to accommodate your needs where possible. Reach out to us in advance so we can understand your needs and we will see what we can do.

4. Weather & Clothing

Q: What happens if it rains?

We ride rain or shine and provide ponchos at no additional cost. If weather is extreme (hurricanes, heavy deluges, or thunderstorms), we will reschedule you on another tour taking place within 7 days of your originally scheduled tour.

Q: What should I wear?

Wear comfortable clothes and closed-toe shoes. Sunglasses, sunscreen, and weather-appropriate attire are recommended. This is not the Tour de France so most guests leave their lycra riding jerseys at home but that's up to you.

5. Meeting Point & Timing

Q: Where does the tour start and end?

All tours start and finish at our shop: 223 Dauphine St., New Orleans, LA.

Q: When should I arrive?

Please arrive 15-30 minutes early so we can get you geared up and ready to go.

6. Tour Experience & Highlights

Q: What will we see on the tour?

Our tours begin in the French Quarter. Depending on the tour you select, we will also visit neighborhoods such as Treme, Marigny, Bywater, Faubourg St. John, the CBD, Lower Garden and Garden District. Highlights can include multiple parks, the Mississippi River, the Lakefront, quiet tree-shaded streets and many antebellum homes as well as talks about local foods, restaurants, music, architecture, and history.

Q: Can we take photos during the tour?

Yes! There are many scenic stops for photos.

Q: Will there be bathroom breaks?

Yes, there are planned restroom stops.

Q: What if I'm thirsty?

Chilled, bottled water is provided. We can also stop along the way if you want a soda. As to alcohol, you can have that after the tour is over. There are plenty of local bars near our shop.

7. Language & Guides

Q: What language is the tour in?

Tours are conducted in English. For other languages, please contact us about private tour availability.

Q: Who are the guides?

Our local guides are experienced cyclists and passionate storytellers who love New Orleans.

8. Gear & Logistics

Q: What kind of bikes do you use?

We offer high-quality cruiser bikes and electric bikes. You can choose a pedal bike only tour or the ebike tour but we do not mix pedal and ebikes on the same tour.

Q: Are the bikes fitted with baskets or ways to carry things?

Yes, many bikes have baskets or pouches for small items.

Q: What about storing our luggage, can you do that?

Yes! Some guests take our tour on the first or last day of their visit. To simplify their logistics, we also offer secure luggage storage for a small additional fee. Whether you're lodging is not ready yet to take your bags or you want your bags at the ready after your tour so you don't need to go back to your hotel to then head to the airport, your bags are safe with us.

Q: Can I bring my own bike?

As some of our staff travel by bike, we completely understand this question and invite you to bring your bike when taking one of our PRIVATE tours (all we ask is that you notify us of your intention before the tour). As to our public tours, we provide bikes.

Q: What if I have other questions?

Call or email us your question(s). We may even include the answer here in the future  to help others.
